A friend recently admitted to me, “I don’t like the sound of my own voice.” Another told me they’d been criticized for singing out of tune.
I created this class with them in mind.
Perhaps you sang freely as a child and lost that connection. Perhaps you sing alone but hesitate when someone might hear you. Or perhaps you already love singing and want to explore harmony, improvisation, and creating songs with others.
I’ve been singing for decades. For me, it feels like a mother tongue, and I approach it as a widely shared human capacity that we can nurture. Few things make me happier than helping someone discover (or rediscover) the pleasure of singing.
The course brings together group vocal improvisation and individual vocal coaching.
In group improvisation, we’ll make music together by ear, beginning with guided call-and-response games and simple repeating patterns. You can participate by listening, echoing, and joining in, then explore your own musical responses as you grow comfortable.
For individual coaching, you’ll bring a song you’ve learned by heart and sing it for the group. You’ll receive technical feedback and tailored exercises to help you find greater ease, freedom, and resonance in your voice.
